Product Description
The Broadcom MegaRAID 9520-8i is an entry-tier member of the MegaRAID 9500 series, the industry's first PCIe Gen 4.0 RAID adapter family. Built on the SAS3808 PCIe Gen 4.0 x8 I/O Controller (IOC), it delivers roughly twice the performance of previous-generation entry MegaRAID cards while supporting eight internal SAS/SATA/NVMe ports through a single x8 SFF-8654 (SlimSAS) connector. Broadcom's Tri-Mode SerDes technology lets NVMe, SAS and SATA drives operate concurrently in the same drive bay, automatically negotiating protocol and speed per device. Running the MegaRAID iMR entry RAID firmware, the 9520-8i supports JBOD mode and RAID 0, 1 and 10 without requiring a Reserved Memory Region Reporting (RMRR) structure, so it doesn't claim host memory at startup. Designed for small and medium businesses deploying entry-level servers and workstations, the 9520-8i pairs a 12Gb/s SAS / 16GT/s PCIe (NVMe) storage interface with a 6W typical power draw for affordable, reliable RAID protection.
